Description

This screening test also detects the following adulterants in the urine sample provided before the Urinary T Cup Test: Creatinine, Nitrite, Glutaraldehyde, pH, Density, Oxidants, Bleach and Pyridinium Chlorochromate.

It is a rapid test for the qualitative detection of psychoactive drugs and their major metabolites in urine at a specific detection threshold.

OPERATION

The T Cup Urinary Rapid Screening Test is a competitive test to detect the presence of certain drugs in the urine. This urine screening test is performed using an absorbent chromatographic device in which drugs or their metabolites present in the sample compete with their respective conjugates to bind to a limited number of sites on the corresponding antibody-dyeing conjugate. During the test, the urine sample migrates upward by capillary action, mixes with the antibody-dye conjugate and passes through the pre-coated membrane. When concentration levels are at or above the target threshold, the substance binds to the antibody-dye conjugate, preventing the antibody-dye conjugate from binding to the pre-coated protein-drug complex in the test region (T). This prevents the development of a distinct colored band in the test region potentially indicating a positive result.

When the specimen tested is at or below the target level (the detection sensitivity of the test), the antibody-dye conjugate binds to the pre-coated drug-protein complex in the test region (T) of the device. This results in a colored line, which, regardless of its intensity, will show a negative result.

The test also detects the presence of adulterants in the sample such as nitrite, glutaraldehyde, bleach, pyridinium chlorochromate and other oxidizing agents. Additionally, the test determines whether the sample is contaminated with acidic (vinegar) or basic (ammonia) adulterants, depending on the pH indicator.
